Patriotic Pinwheel koi the cut channels were made

the cut channels were made into small ground bits of glass and black bits were added - this glass was put in the center and the initial glass was made in a dam to keep the shape

I designed the colors and structure of the glass and then manipulated the glass at high temperatures to swirl the colors into patterns

the glass is firepolished while adding texture

Artistic process:  The green background is a double layer of glass that was fused first

these colored stringers are then laid flat into a circle and heated up on their own in the kiln to full fuse which causes them to melt and fuse into interesting patterns

The "petals" are made with pattern bars that are assembled into a pinwheel design, the patterned pebbles were made from cut up pieces of the pattern bars See Below for an explanation of a pattern bar.
