The print shows FW190's of JG 2 based in France climbing to intercept incoming B 17 inbound to attack the Submarine pens at Lorient. The FW 190 was a superb fighter aircraft that gave the RAF a a shock on its introduction in 1941. At the time the RAF had nothing comparable in performance until the Mk1X Spitfire in late 1942. The
