Since I run such heavy leaders with my circle hook/bait rigs I dont have many problems with line twist or tangles on the bottom and dont need to run spreader bars
Later in the day, when the tide was the lowest, I hit the weedlines with the ChatterBait. His Senko of choice was a 6-inch in watermelon red flake and he wacky-rigged it on a 3/0 Gamakatsu Wicked Wacky Hook
As for color, the high-visibility yellow, green and red lines make it easier to keep track of line angles and to unravel tangled lines, but usually I go with the more subtle natural greens and grays (for no particular reason)
August may be known as the dog days of summer back home, but not so on Rainy Lake, where Trapp and I are averaging fifty smallmouth bass daily, with the bigger fish bass hitting the four-pound mark
